  • 3 Of Family Die Of Suffocation While Cleaning Septic Tank In UP: Cops

The victims were identified as Prahlad Mandal (60), his daughter Tanu Vishwas (32) and his son-in-law Kartik Vishwas (38), police said.

Three members of a family died due to suffocation while cleaning a septic tank outside their house here on Wednesday, police said.

The victims were identified as Prahlad Mandal (60), his daughter Tanu Vishwas (32) and his son-in-law Kartik Vishwas (38), police said.

Mandal had recently constructed a new septic tank, approximately 8 feet deep, after facing some issues with an old, smaller tank. He along with his daughter and son-in-law descended into the new tank for cleaning, Madhotanda Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Pal said.

“It appears that a gas began leaking from an adjacent old septic tank. Due to the depth of the new tank, the three were unable to get out and suffocated to death on the spot,” the SHO said.

Tanu Vishwas had been living at her parents’ home with her husband Kartik and their children. Kartik was a resident of the nearby village of Mainigulriya, police said.

Kalinagar Tehsildar Virendra Kumar visited the village after the accident to gather information from the grieving family. He assured them of all possible assistance based on their economic situation.

  • Child Abducted, Mutilated By ‘Wolves’ In UP’s Bahraich

A mutilated body of a two-year-old boy was found in a field in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich, possibly dragged there and mauled by an animal.

A mutilated body of a two-year-old boy was found in a field in the Gadamaar Kalan village of Mahsi tehsil Tuesday morning, possibly dragged there and mauled by an animal, police said. The forest department said it has captured two jackals with a drone camera.

However, the boy’s parents and the villagers claim that the boy was taken away by three wolves while he was asleep in the house.

Divisional Forest Officer Ajit Pratap Singh told reporters, “Last night, between midnight and 1 am, information was received that some animal had taken away a child from Gadamar Kalan village of Mahsi tehsil. A search operation was launched, and the child’s body was found in a sugarcane field at 5 am.” He said some footprints were seen near the body, which were later concluded to be of a jackal.

A search with a thermal drone following the footprints led to the spotting of two jackals 250-300 metres away, Singh said.

Seven teams have been formed to search for the animal and lead an awareness campaign, he said.

The forest department has advised people to never go out of the house alone and take special care of the children, he said.

Khushboo, mother of Ayush, the child, told reporters that she had seen the wolf taking away her son.

“Last night, as we lay in the verandah of our house, wolves came and took away my child. I saw the wolf. We tried to chase it, but in vain. In the morning, Ayush’s body was found in the sugarcane field,” she said.

His father, Pramod, said that the wolf ate both his son’s hands and one leg.

Gyanendra Singh, chief of the neighbouring village Kothwal Kalan, said Khushboo was at her maternal home when the incident happened.

He said similar incidents happened in the same area last year, too.

“We demand that the forest department and administration pay attention and catch the wolves,” he said.

On September 15, 2024, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey of the region and met families of those who lost their lives in the wolf attacks.

  • “Won’t Let You Be Anyone Else’s”: UP Man Tries To Strangle Girlfriend In Park

His marriage proposal rejected, a man tried to strangulate his girlfriend in a park in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.

A friendship that started from Instagram messages and turned into love, was followed by a rejected marriage proposal and then the chilling words – “Agar tum meri nahi ho sakti, toh mein tumhe kisi aur ki bhi nahi hone dunga (If you cannot be mine, I will not let you be anyone else’s)”.

One year since a woman distanced her boyfriend after learning about his criminal background, his attempts to pressurise her into marrying him turned into an attempt to strangle her in a public park on Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.

The 18-year-old woman had met the man, identified as Aman Sonkar, on Instagram but later found out that many criminal cases were registered against him. Subsequently, she distanced herself from him. He then started pressuring her for marriage and threatened to kill her if she refused. Sonkar would also call various members of the woman’s family from different numbers, repeating the threats to her life.

On Friday morning, Sonkar called her to a park, threatening to make her private photos viral. When they met, he continued to pressure her for marriage. Unable to take the rejection, he tried to strangulate her with her dupatta. He fled the spot as passers-by intervened. A video of the incident went viral online.

The woman and her mother then filed a complaint, but Sonkar was not found when police arrived at his house. An FIR was registered against the man under Bharat Nyay Sanhita’s Section 351 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt).

  • In Kanpur Murder, A Meerut Reminder: Conspiracies And Extra-Marital Affair

Kanpur murder: The accused tried to wash off the blood stains in the house and on the murder weapon; however, a forensic analysis spilled the beans.

The gruesome murder of a man in Kanpur has revealed multiple layers of conspiracy, an extramarital affair, and a modus operandi that matches partly with the Meerut killing that had sent shockwaves through the country two months ago.

Dharmendra Pasi, a resident of Laxmankheda village, was killed by his wife Reena and nephew Satish, who were in an extramarital relationship, the police said.

On May 10, Reena had mixed sleeping pills in Dharmendra’s food. After he fainted, she smashed his head with a heavy door frame. During the murder, only the victim’s 75-year-old hearing-impaired mother was present in the house.

The conspiracy came to the fore as the cops went through the accused’s call details and the forensic investigation. The police initially rounded up three suspects. But their focus shifted towards the family after they found blood stains inside their house, including the courtyard and the bathroom.

While the body was found outside the house, the blood stains inside sparked suspicion. With the help of a forensic team and sniffer dogs, the police confirmed that the murder was committed inside the house.

To save themselves, Reena and Satish had named three other men before the cops, trying to frame them in what would appear as a family feud. But the police saw through their lies.

Reena and Satish’s call details revealed they spoke over the phone for long hours. Obscene photographs were also recovered from their phones. When interrogated, Reena confessed she had an affair with her nephew. Her husband already had a whiff of their relationship, she told the cops.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mahesh Kumar said that two weeks before the murder, the victim had a fight with some people. Based on this, two people were arrested for his killing.

“But further probe revealed an affair between the victim’s wife and nephew. The victim had come to know about their relationship and had fought over it with his wife. After that, it emerged that they had conspired to kill him,” said Mr Kumar.

The accused also tried to wash off the blood stains in the house and on the murder weapon; however, a forensic analysis spilled the beans.

Both have been arrested and taken away by the police. A case of murder, destruction of evidence, and conspiracy has been registered against two of them.

The Kanpur murder shares an eerie similarity with the killing of a former Merchant Navy officer by his wife and her lover in Meerut in March. The victim’s body – chopped into 15 pieces – was found in a drum sealed with cement. After the murder, the accused left for vacation in Himachal Pradesh.

The murder came to light when labourers opened the drum after being unable to lift it.
